This month’s challenge also gave me a hard time because you may know that I do not prefer traditional patchwork. We had to make something with the following blocks (min. 5 of them – you may find their names below).

Η πρόκληση αυτού του μήνα με δυσκόλεψε αρκετά, γιατί, όπως ίσως ξέρετε, δεν προτιμώ το παραδοσιακό πάτσγουορκ. Έπρεπε να δημιουργήσουμε κάτι χρησιμοποιώντας τα παρακάτω στοιχεία (τουλάχιστον 5 από αυτά – τα ονόματά τους τα βρίσκετε πιο κάτω).

I thought a lot of this project and tried a few patterns. The solution came when we are told that the minimum amount required for each block was 1 piece. The collection I had to use is Summer 2025 Starry seas by Jerry Kiev for Island Batik.

Σκέφτηκα πολύ αυτό το έργο και δοκίμασα κάποια σχέδια. Η λύση ήρθε όταν μας είπαν ότι η ελάχιστη ποσότητα που απαιτείται από κάθε block ήταν 1 κομμάτι. Η συλλογή που έπρεπε να χρησιμοποιήσω είναι η Starry Seas του Jerry Kiev για τα Island Batik.

Very nice colors, that again reminded me of Mexico and Frida Kalo (see this post).

By the time I was working this project, I also planted some cacti for my balcony at our summer house and then came the idea to make two pots with cacti. I used all the fabrics of the collection and on top of the collection, I used two greens. The one was from solids’ collection and the other one from the basics (fabrics that always exist along with the collections)I was sent in the same box.

Την περίοδο που δούλευα σε αυτό το έργο, φύτεψα και μερικούς κάκτους στο εξοχικό μας και τότε μου ήρθε η ιδέα να φτιάξω δύο γλαστράκια με κάκτους. Χρησιμοποίησα όλα τα υφάσματα της συλλογής και, επιπλέον, δύο πράσινα. Το ένα ήταν από τη συλλογή των solids και το άλλο από τα basics (υφάσματα που υπάρχουν πάντα ανεξαρτήτως συλλογών) που μου στάλθηκαν στο ίδιο κουτί.

I designed my pots and I also designed some of the above blocks as FPP patterns to turn them into wonky ones in order to decorate the pots. I like the result a lot!

Σχεδίασα τις γλάστρες μου και σχεδίασα επίσης μερικά από τα πιο πάνω στοιχεία για να τα δουλέψω ως FPP patterns ώστε να τα κάνω “wonky” για να διακοσμήσω τις γλάστρες. Μου αρέσει πολύ το αποτέλεσμα!

I apliqued everything on the neutral fabric sent to my in my box and then, I made many knots using pearl cotton for the torns/ prickles. I then put some tacky glue on the pearl cotton with my fingers so that it stays a little bit hard. A lot of work!!!!

Έκανα απλικέ όλα τα στοιχεία στο ουδέτερο ύφασμα που μου στάλθηκε και μετά έκανα πολλούς κόμπους με κοτόν περλέ για τα αγκάθια / καρφάκια. Μετά έβαλα λίγο tacky glue στο κοτόν περλέ με τα δάχτυλα ώστε να σκληρύνει ελαφρώς. Πάρα πολλή δουλειά!!!

I also added some 3d elements: Flowers and Prickly pears. Also a lot of work!!!

Πρόσθεσα επίσης κάποια 3D στοιχεία: λουλούδια και φραγκόσυκα. Επίσης πάρα πολλή δουλειά!!!

I forgot to mention that I also made some shading on the green fabrics with my Inktense pencils.

Ξέχασα να αναφέρω ότι έκανα και κάποια σκίαση στα πράσινα υφάσματα με τα Inktense μολύβια μου.

My pots are so beautiful!!!

Οι γλάστρες μου είναι πανέμορφες!!!

I then made a frame around the two pots and one stripe between them. For these, I made block #4. The batting I used is Hobbs 80/20, sent to me in my box. The final result is so pleasing. What do you think?

Μετά έφτιαξα ένα πλαίσιο γύρω από τις δύο γλάστρες και μία λωρίδα ανάμεσά τους. Εκεί χρησιμοποίησα το στοιχείο #4. Η βάτα που χρησιμοποίησα ήταν η Hobbs 80/20, που μου έστειλαν μέσα στο κουτί. Το τελικό αποτέλεσμα εμένα με ξετρέλλανε. Εσείς τι λέτε;

I hung it over my desk in the same room, where I also put the bolster pillows (night photo, sorry).

Το κρέμασα πάνω από το γραφείο μου, στο ίδιο δωμάτιο όπου έχω βάλει και τα μαξιλάρια – καραμέλες (νυχτερινή φωτογραφία, συγγνώμη).
