Next month is dedicated to breast cancer awareness. Most of my followers will remember my adventure with breast cancer. Fortunately everything went well. I did not have to go under chemo. Just radiation and 10 years of pills. This happened 3,5 years ago.
O επόμενος μήνας είναι αφιερωμένος, όπως όλοι ξέρουμε στην πρόληψη κατά του καρκίνου του μαστού. Οι περισσότεροι από εσάς που με ακολουθείτε θα θυμόσαστε τη δική μου περιπέτεια με τον καρκίνο του μαστού. Ευτυχώς όλα πήγαν καλά. Δεν χρειάστηκα χημειοθεραπείες, παρά μόνο ακτινοβολίες και 10 χρόνια χαπιών. Αυτό συνέβη πριν 3,5 χρόνια.
Just after my radiations have finished, I started volunteering on this field and trying to help as much as I could to spread the word of “Prolepsis” and help patients as well by sewing with them in order for them to relax and stop thinking about the problem. Prolepsis that means prevention is what saved me. I discovered my cancer during the regular yearly examinations. Afterall “prolepsis” is a Greek word!
Μόλις τελείωσα τις ακτινοβολίες μου, άρχισα να κάνω εθελοντισμό σε αυτό το κομμάτι και προσπαθώντας να βοηθήσω όσο γίνεται για να εξαπλωθεί η Πρόληψη αλλά και περνώντας χρόνο ράβοντας με τις ασθενείς, για να ξεχνιούνται. Εξάλλου η πρόληψη με έσωσε κι εμένα, μια και ήταν κάτι που βρέθηκε στον ετήσιο έλεγχο!
Thus, when a fellow Island Batik Ambassador, Brianna Roberts from Sew Cute and Quirky blog asked who wanted to participate on a “Pinktober” blog hop, I was among the first to say yes.
Ετσι λοιπόν, όταν μια συνάδελφος/Πρέσβειρα στο πρόγραμμα των Island Batik, η Brianna Roberts από το μπλογκ Sew Cute and Quirky ρώτησε ποιος ήθελε να πάρει μέρος σε μπλογκο-επίσκεψη με θέμα “Pinktober” εννοείται ότι ήμουν ανάμεσα στους πρώτους που απάντησαν θετικά.
Actually, she did a wonderful job organizing this. Island Batik provided the fabric.

Since we have at our shop some of the Positively Pink fabrics, I asked for the other collection so that I have an idea of all of the fabrics.
Μια και έχουμε φέρει στο μαγαζί μας τη συλλογή Positively Pink, ζήτησα την άλλη για να δω όλα τα υφάσματα.
What are we going to make? A Pinktober project of course.
Τι θα κάνουμε; Μα φυσικά ένα έργο που να έχει σχέση με την πρόληψη του καρκίνου του μαστού.
I have already started cutting, because I am planning to have my project with me during the Race for the Cure that will be held in Athens, October, 2nd. I will post more about it even during September.
Εχω ήδη ξεκινήσει να κόβω, γιατί σχεδιάζω να έχω το έργο μου μαζί μου στο Race for the Cure που θα γίνει στην Αθήνα στις 2 Οκωβρίου .
