Το να ράβουμε για μωρά είναι η χαρά μας. Φτιάχνουμε μικρά και χαριτωμένα κουιλτάκια που προορίζονται για τα δικά μας παιδιά ή εγγόνια ή για παιδιά και εγγόνια φίλων, προκειμένου να έχουν το κατάδικό τους μοναδικό παπλωματάκι.

This month is the challenge with AccuQuilt. The company was very generous and sent us a complet set to everyone of us.

Αυτό τον μήνα είναι η σειρά του κοπτικού μηχανήματος. Η εταιρεία Aκιουκουίλτ ήταν ιδιαίτερα γενναιόδωρη και έστειλε ένα ολόκληρο μηχάνημα σε καθέναν από μας.

Since we are expecting a baby who also has an older sister, I thought of making this month’s quilt for them. The quilt should be square 40″ to 48″. I did not make it square, although I covered the size needed, because of my pattern. This was my first time with Accuquilt. So I thought of making an already existing pattern. I looked at the leaflets and the book that were sent to us with the machine and I liked a lot a pattern with pencils.

Μια και περιμένουμε ένα μωρό στον κύκλο μας που έχει μάλιστα και μεγαλύτερη αδερφή, σκέφτηκα να κάνω το κουίλτ αυτού του μήνα, που έπρεπε να είναι τετράγωνο πλευράς από 101εκ. έως 122εκ. γι αυτά τα δυο πιτσιρίκια. Εγώ δεν το έκανα τετράγωνο, λόγω του σχεδίου, στο οποίο τελεικά κατέληξα. Ωστόσο κάλυψα τη συνολική επιφάνεια. Επειδή χρησιμοποίησα το μηχάνημα για πρώτη φορά, έψαξα στα σχέδια που υπήρχαν στα συνοδευτικά φυλλάδια και το βιβλίο που μας έστειλαν. Μου άρεσε πάρα πολύ ένα σχέδιο με μολύβια.

However, I wanted the two sisters to be there too. Therefore I thought of putting the pencils as a border and to applique our beloved Sue in the center, one younger and one older. My final size was 37 * 46. You may see my quilt below:

Όμως ήθελα να έχω και μια αναφορά στις δυο αδελφούλες. Έτσι σκέφτηκα να χρησιμοποιήσω γύρω – γύρω τα μολύβια και στο κέντρο να φτιάξω μια παράσταση με την αγαπημένη μας Σου σε δύο ηλικίες.
Το τελικό μου μέγεθος είναι 94 επί 117 εκ. Κι έτσι, έφτιαξα το κουιλτάκι που βλέπετε παρακάτω.

The background for the applique is a solid white sent to my by my favorite Island Batik, whereas all the other pieces were leftovers from previous boxes.

Σαν βάση για το απλικέ μου χρησιμοποίησα το λευκό που μου έστειλαν τα αγαπημένα Island Batik ενώ όλα τα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια είναι κομμάτια που έμειναν από τα δυο περσινά κουτιά.

You cannot imagine how easy is cutting with Accuquilt. One more advantage is that every piece is cut in a very accurate way. It is a gadget for people who are afraid of cutting or want to cut fast and in accurate way.

Η διαδικασία κοψίματος, δεν μπορώ να σας περιγράψω πόσο εύκολη ήταν. Το άλλο μεγάλο πλεονέκτημα είναι το ότι όλα τα κομμάτια κόβονται πολύ ίσια και ομοιόμορφα. Είναι ένα μηχάνημα για αυτούς που φοβούνται το κόψιμο σίγουρα, αλλά και γι αυτούς που θέλουν να ξεμπερδεύουν γρήγορα αλλά και με ακρίβεια.

Ι opened the box and put in front of me whatever i needed. Based on the pattern I choose, I only selected the dies I wanted to use, as well as my fabrics.

Άνοιξα το κουτί και αράδιασα γύρω μου ό,τι χρειαζόμουν. Με βάση το σχέδιο που διάλεξα, έβγαλα τις μήτρες που χρειαζόμουν αλλά και τα υφάσματά μου.

Fabrics should be cut in strips of size relative to the die so that we have the minimum possible wasted fabric. I also folded the fabric so that on each cut, I was talking 6 times the pieces of the die.

Τα υφάσματα έπρεπε να είναι κομμένα σε διάσταση ανάλογη με τη μήτρα για να πηγαίνει χαμένο όσο το δυνατόν λιγότερο ύφασμα. Επίσης, ήταν διπλωμένο έτσι το ύφασμα ώστε με κάθε κόψιμο να παίρνω 6 φορές τα κομμάτια που βγάζει η μήτρα.

Everything was cut in less than an hour in ultimate prcision.

Κι έτσι σε λιγότερο από μια ώρα είχα κόψει όλα μου τα κομμάτια με εξαιρετική ακρίβεια.

You can get even the small triangles as you see them below.

Ακόμα και τα τριγωνάκια έχουν κομμένες τις μύτες τους.

So I sewed one by one all pieces and made pencils blocks.

Κι έτσι λοιπόν, έραψα ένα- ένα μολύβι ξεχωριστά

and then joined them around my applique.

και στη συνέχεια τα συναρμολόγησα γύρω από το κομμάτι που απλικάρισα.

I used the same type of batting as last time, because I have left a piece. Heirloom Natural, that Hobbs had sent me in last box.

Χρησιμοποίησα την ίδια βάτα που είχα χρησιμοποιήσει και τον προηγούμενο μήνα μια και μου είχε περισσέψει, τη Heirloom Natural, που μου είχε στείλει η Hobbs μέσα στο πακέτο μου.

I quilted in the ditch around the pencils. I added some circles between them.

Το καπιτονάρισμα που έκανα ήταν τσίμα μέσα στις ραφές γύρω από τα μολύβια, κύκλους ανάμεσά τους και

and free motion quilted around the applique writing some letters at the same time.

ελεύθερο γύρω από το απλικέ γράφοντας ταυτόχρονα και γράμματα.

Τhe result is the following. I will also make a baby bag and will give it when the time comes. Of course I will embroider on the blackborard.

Το αποτέλεσμα είναι αυτό. Θα συμπληρωθεί οπωσδήποτε και με την ανάλογη τσαντούλα μωρού και όταν έρθει η ώρα θα παραδοθεί. Εννοείται ότι και ο πίνακας δεν θα μείνει έτσι σκέτος….
