In the nick of time I am writing this post again. Two days before the orhodox Holy week, last day of March. Try a technique we were said this month.

Τελευταία μέρα του μήνα, δυο μέρες πριν τη Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα και πάλι με την ψυχή στο στόμα γράφω την ανάρτηση αυτή. Δοκίμασε μια νέα τεχνική μας είπαν για τον Μάρτιο.

I have made so many techniques that it was difficult to get one. I knew that stained glass tecnique was new to me but also very time consuming. Therefore I did not start with ir. I tried something else, but I was not satisfied. Therefore, the days were passing and then the end of the month was almost there with me dealing with other things. Then alea jacta est. It was stained glass technique. I searched my magazines and I got this pattern on an old Magic Patch magazine. Unfortunately there was not the name of the designer to mention her/him.

Έλα όμως που έχω κάνει τόσες πολλές που ήταν και δύσκολο να βρω τι να κάνω; Ήξερα ότι την τεχνική του βιτρώ δεν την είχα κάνει. Μου άρεσε αλλά είπα να την αποφύγω γιατί ήταν χρονοβόρα. Ξεκίνησα κάτι άλλο, δεν μου βγήκε όπως το ήθελα και οι μέρες περνούσαν με άλλα πράγματα που έφτιαχνα. Το τέλος του μήνα ήταν προ των πυλών κι έτσι ο κύβος ερρίφθη. Τεχνική του βιτρώ λοιπόν. Έψαξα τα περιοδικά μου και βρήκα σε ένα παλιό τεύχος Magic Patch ένα πατρόν που μου άρεσε πολύ και δεν είχε όνομα σχεδιάστριας για να την αναφέρω.

I looked through the beautiful fabrics sent to me by Island Batik and chose this egg white for the background and the rest of the colors I used from Plum delicious collection as I did last month.

Έκανα μια βουτιά στην τσάντα με τα πολύτιμα μπατίκ που μου έστειλαν από την εταιρεία Island Batik και διάλεξα ένα όμορφο υπόλευκο για φόντο, το egg white και τα χρώματα που βλέπετε για το θέμα μου που είναι και αυτά από τη συλλογή Plum delicious, όπως και τον προηγούμενο μήνα

 

And then came the time for the black binding. Unfortunately there has not been so far this type of binding in Greece. I had to make it myself. This proved to be the most “difficult” part of the whole work. Almost 30 yards of black binding and then to put the fusible web on the wrong side… Width of the binding? 1/4″.

Και μετά από την παραπάνω φάση, ήρθε η ώρα του ρελιού. Δεν υπήρχε μέσα στο πακέτο μου μαύρο χρώμα, για αυτό και έψαξα στα υφάσματά μου και βρήκα μια μαύρη ποπλίνα. Το μεγαλύτερο ζόρι ήταν αυτό το ρέλι. Στο εξωτερικό αυτό το ρέλι υπάρχει έτοιμο. Εδώ όχι ακόμα. Άρα έπρεπε να φτιαχτεί. 25 μέτρα συνολικά για το έργο που βλέπετε που οι διαστάσεις του είναι περίπου 50 εκ. επί 1 μ. Φάρδος ρελιού; 0,6 εκ. και έβαλα και στην κάτω του πλευρά και αράχνη. 

I liked this technique a lot.It is a petty that I worked under so much pressure and I did not enjoy the procedure as I could if I had more time. Never mind. I liked is so much that I will use it in the future and I will also teach it.

Θα σας πω ότι μου άρεσε πάρα πολύ όλη η διαδικασία αυτής της τεχνικής. Είναι κρίμα, όπως είπε και η φίλη μου η Κατερινούλα που το έκανα με τόση πίεση και δεν ευχαριστήθηκα τη διαδικασία, όσο θα μπορούσα. Δεν πειράζει, όμως την επόμενη φορά. Γιατί σίγουρα θα υπάρξει και επόμενη φορά και σίγουρα θα το κάνω και μάθημα.

I used again Thermore batting by Hobbs. I used the batting double as Ι did last time, since I liked the result a lot.

Έβαλα και πάλι διπλή τη βάτα Τhermore της Hobbs που μου είχαν στείλει στο πακέτο μου, μια και μου άρεσε πολύ το αποτέλεσμα της προηγούμενης φοράς. 

One other new thing for me was the use of the double needle. I knew how to use it, I have showed it many times to my students bun never used it. This was the first work I made with the double needle. And I used it throughout the quilt, except from the final binding.

Εκτός όμως από τη νέα τεχνική, για πρώτη φορά έραψα και με διπλή βελόνα. Ήξερα πώς τη χρησιμοποιούν, την έδειχνα στις μαθήτριές μου αλλά δεν είχα κάνει ποτέ κάτι με αυτή. Και αυτό το έργο έγινε όλο με διπλή βελόνα εκτός από το τελικό ρέλι. 

Not special quilting for this project, since I fixed the binding having sandwiched the piece.

Καπιτονάρισμα ιδιαίτερο δεν έχει μια και το στερέωμα του ρελιού το έκανα όλο μαζί με τη βάτα κι έτσι πήρε τα ανάγλυφά του από εκεί.

Stay tuned for next months project, with something vintage that became modern. I have already half of the quilt ready, since I am going to use the failure of this month.

Ραντεβού τον επόμενο μήνα με κάτι από τα παλιά σε μοντέρνα όμως εκδοχή. Το μισό αυτή τη φορά είναι έτοιμο. Ήταν η αποτυχημένη προσπάθεια αυτού του μήνα που όμως θα τη μετατρέψω για το θέμα του επόμενου.
